Adaptive Scenario Analysis and Planning (ASAP)
In facilitating foresight exercises, I have used the ASAP process as articulated by the International Institute for Sustainable Development. ASAP typically has six steps that assist organizations in achieving foresight (steps 1-3), insight (step 4) and action (steps 5 and 6). The steps can be tailored for purposes of creating and stress testing specific policies and strategies, or creating a shared vision of the future within a sector, community or country. The collective terminology of foresight, insight and action was first advanced by the Institute for the Future (IFTF).
Application
I've facilitated foresight exercises using ASAP and related methodologies in a range of sectors including business, natural resource management, agriculture, and international development.
